Reporters ‘Seen Leaving’ Ep launch on 29th sept

REPORTERS are a two piece band from Buckinghamshire featuring song writer Dan Stock (vocals/guitars) and Josh Ringsell (drums/backing vocals). With real heads for song craft on the bodies of such young musicians, both still 17 years old, the Seen Leaving EP perfectly captures the sprit, zeal, fizz and electricity of what it is to be young and restless in 2014.

With a raft of successful city shows under their belts already, and being granted the opportunity to gig with some of their own personal favourites in bands such as Catfish and the Bottlemen and Merchandise, Reporters marry the influence of Damon Albarn, Nick Cave, John Cooper Clarke and Arctic Monkeys to produce something that sounds like an even snottier version of early 00’s The Cribs, given a slightly more sophisticated posture.

On an EP that showcases just how much they’ve refined their sound already, without losing any of their early passion and exuberance, it’s lead track Hold The Controls that starts proceedings, set in the world of the literal, where life is controlled by a TV remote. For Reporters, it’s about being young, not being stuck on the same page, moving on and being in control. As the band put it, “so you’re not stuck watching Antiques Roadshow all your life”. As far as introductions go, Hold The Controls is over before you’ve realised how great it was.

Reporters are having their ep ‘Seen leaving’ launch party this 8th of September at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen, London. Official release the 29th of September at Phret Records.
