The History of Apple Pie, Playlounge and Bare Pale @ The Old Blue Last (19th February, 2013)

On Tuesday 19th of February (2013) we could enjoy one of the most exciting night-out-concerts we’ve had here in London. It was a top-up gig: add the fact that it was free, then add that it was in the emblematic Old Blue Last and last but not least add the following quality bands: The History of Apple Pie, PlayLounge and Bare Pale. Most of the people there were just expecting The History of Apple Pie to play, however, what a surprise we had with PlayLonge and Bare pale’s music quality.

First to jump on stage were Bare Pale. A London based, three pieces component indie noise/rock band we would say, that somehow recall us at BabyShambles. People started to get in the mood of live music and by the end of their 30 minutes show, they had all the audience on board. Their set was a composition of really good rhythms and enough noise to make you happy enough to be there :)

After a sort break to grab a pint, PlayLounge came into action. First thing you see is that they’re a 2 pieces band: Drums and guitarrist. Second thing you see is how the Drummer, gets a shoot on his asthma spray. What to expect? Well, this London based band do kind of alternative rock quite far from the british stuff is going on here. CrazyFriday would say they’re closer to US bands sounds such as Dinosaur Jr for example. The singer is the drummer, an incredibly talented guy who manages to fill all the space left by the stunning sounds of the guitar. At the end, more contundent noise for your hears!

When The history of apple pie came into scene, the upper level of The Old Blue Last was incredibly fully packed. If you’ve been there you know what we mean here. Between cheers and greetings, the band started to play their noisy shoegaze indie stuff and making forget people’s problems just for some time lapse. With Steph singing and Kelly playing the bass and moving and glancing people, the band achieves one of the most important things in a concert: not only people listen to your music but also are watching you playing it and ejoying! As most of you might know, The History of Apple Pie has released a new album and are becoming one of the hype bands in Uk. Playing across Uk, was really nice to have the possibility to see them playing for free. We’ll try to get them in the CrazyFriday-Magazine’s interview section for sure!
