London progressive psychedelicists Messenger have announced a stream of Somniloquist, the first track to be showcased from their forthcoming debut album Illusory Blues (Svart Records, March 31st). Produced by Jaime Gomez Arellano at Orgone Studios, the band described the new LP as “cosmic ode to the forces of nature and the inevitable cycle of life.”

Ask Messenger who influences them, and they’ll tell you that they very much see themselves as occupying a similar space filled by Ulver, The Beatles, Swans or Pink Floyd. They dwell equally in the earthly realm of folk music and in the celestial void of progressive psychedelia.

Talking of the new track, guitarist and vocalist Khaled Lowe says;

“To be a “Somniloquist” is to talk in one’s sleep. One interpretation is that the subconscious world we inhabit in our dream state holds some kind of a key to our existence in our waking life. The song is an ode to dreaming, to ambition, and to making the most of your time in the physical form on this plain of existence; whether through experiencing the joys of nature, or merely by existing in the present moment. It is also a meditation on value creation: how the way we perceive, feel or relate to an event can totally change it’s meaning…”
